I was born in Nagasaki, and my paternal grandfather was a fisherman on an island called Iki.

My grandfather passed away when I was in the first grade of elementary school, but he was still out fishing on fishing boats when I was about 4 or 5 years old.

I remember being taken on fishing boats and fishing at that time.

The sea was a familiar presence to me.

I remember that on beaches where locals go to play, rather than tourist spots, there was often trash washed up and left there.

Seeing those beaches, I felt an itch that I couldn't do anything about it.
