ExtraBold. collaborated on the 3D printing of an exhibit for TOKYO ROOMS, which is now on display at the Toyota Auto Body Headquarters Development Center.

At the South Lobby of Toyota Auto Body Co., Ltd.'s Headquarters Development Center, which provided materials for the TOKYO ROOMS exhibition, works by Takumi Yamamoto, created using our 3D printing technology and environmentally friendly material "TABWD®," have been on display since August.

*The "TABWD Gallery," which showcases the features and applications of TABWD®, has also been opened in the same area.


ExtraBold Co., Ltd. provided comprehensive support, from 3D data creation to large-scale 3D printing and production, for the artwork "The Room Where Designs Are Born" (Room No. 22), exhibited by car designer Takumi Yamamoto at the experiential exhibition " TOKYO ROOMS" ( Announcement dated April 30, 2026 ).

Thanks to Toyota Auto Body Co., Ltd.'s adoption of their environmentally friendly material " TABWD® " in this project, an exhibition of the work began in the South Lobby of Toyota Auto Body Co., Ltd.'s Headquarters Development Center in August 2026 (exhibition period TBD).

On August 4th, we held a meeting with designer Takumi Yamamoto, and Toyota Auto Body's Development Division General Manager Kuroyanagi, Area Manager Takenaka, and Area Manager Onoue to unveil the exhibit and exchange opinions on future initiatives.

About TABWD®

TABWD® is an environmentally friendly automotive material developed by Toyota Auto Body Co., Ltd. It uses cedar wood harvested during forest maintenance as its raw material, contributing to the regeneration of Japan's forests. Combining the texture of wood with the processability of resin, it allows for the creation of a rich variety of looks through the designer's creativity and processing techniques.

About the work

This work was created based on the concept of "expressing the process by which inspiration transforms from a 2D sketch to a 3D physical object," as envisioned by Takumi Yamamoto. Our technical members were responsible for converting the design image into 3D data (partition design, joint design, etc.), and for the fabrication using the large-format 3D printer " EXF-12 " and the collaborative robot-type 3D printer " REX-BUTLER ." We provided comprehensive support from material verification to final production.
